Are you all settled yet?

Are you all settled yet?

After weeks of searching for a home, moving in, cleaning, installing air conditioners and appliances, finding furniture and dealing with some electrical and plumbing issues, we reflect: Are we settled yet? Our to do list still seems endless. But isn’t that the reality for many of us? I think a better question is, “Have you met your neighbours yet?” That is the 2nd greatest commandment, “Love your neighbour as yourself.” Mackenzie gets confused between ‘nextdoor neighbours’ and ‘neighbours’.  We rent a rowhouse that is across from another rowhouse. Each row has about 30 homes. And we are in a neighbourhood of almost 20 rows. We have a lot of neighbours of varying ethnicities. As we jump back into work and language study mode, we also need to start networking in this large busy city. The kids are enjoying school and going through the process of making new friends again. It can be hard to meet neighbours, but during our first few weeks here, we had a neighbourhood power outage for a few hours in the evening. All our neighbours went outside to cool off because it was too hot indoors without any fans or A/Cs running. It was such a fun evening to mingle outside, meet other families, and watch the children play tag in the dark. As much as I hate blackouts, this was a good one. We thank the Lord we have a place to live with good neighbours and for the comfy bed we have to lay our heads.

Prayer Requests:

    • Please pray for healing for our bodies, as we have been taking turns getting sick with various bacterial infections and flu viruses.
    • Please pray for Kevin as he has been given the opportunity to introduce and promote the Financial Stewardship Program at the next National Khmer C&MA Conference on September 21-22. This is the largest audience he has ever spoken to in Cambodia and he will need to speak for 30 minutes in Khmer.
    • Please lift up Carol as she balances Khmer classes, building new relationships with nationals and discerning what future ministry God is calling her to.
